Hidden Corner
Hidden Corner is a small app about tending one personal space. It is not a social network, and most of this policy is about things it deliberately does not do.

The rest of this page is the detail behind those five lines.
Hidden Corner is made and operated by one person. Questions, requests about your data, or anything that has gone wrong: hiddencorner.support@gmail.com.
Everything in this section is something you typed, drew, or chose to send.
Used to sign you in and to tell one account from another. It is never shown to another user, never sold, and never used to market anything to you. If you sign in with Apple or Google instead, we receive whatever that service tells us — and if you use Apple's Hide My Email, that is a relay address, so we never see your real one.
The signature you draw when you first set up is stored as the shape of the strokes, not as an image and not as your name. It is deliberately a drawing rather than a handle, because a drawing identifies your things to you without identifying you to anyone else.
When you ask for something to appear in your corner, the sentence you write is stored with that piece and shown alongside it. Keep in mind that if your corner is listed, a visitor can read those words — so treat them as something you are putting in a window, not a private note.
Because those words can end up in front of a stranger, each sentence is checked before it becomes a piece. It is sent to OpenAI's moderation service, which answers only with whether the text falls into categories like hate, threats, or sexual content. Nothing else goes with it — not your account, not your email, not your corner. It is sent for that one check, it is not used to train anything, and if the check cannot be made the request is refused rather than let through. If a sentence is refused, no piece is made and the words are not kept.
If you write to us from inside the app, your message and any images you attach are stored, and both are sent on to the operator by email so they can actually be read. Images are kept in private storage; there is no public link to them. There is no reply channel — the app cannot write back to you, and it says so on that screen.
If you report a corner or a piece, we store what you reported and the reason you typed. The person you reported is never told that you reported them, and the reason is sent to the operator without your identity attached.
| What | Why it exists |
|---|---|
| Your corner and its pieces | The room itself: which objects you have, where you put them, and when each arrived. |
| When a piece was last dusted | Dust is worked out from dates rather than stored, so this is the one date it needs. |
| Marks you leave elsewhere | The drawing, the piece it was left on, and the date. Who left it is recorded but is unreadable to every ordinary account, including the corner's owner. |
| Today's walk | Which corners today's walk offered you and how far along it you are, so the same walk resumes instead of reshuffling. One row per day, deleted after 21 days. |
| Wishes we could not draw | When you ask for something the library has no artwork for, the text is kept so the missing thing can be drawn later. |
Two of these deserve plain statements rather than a table cell. Who left a mark is stored, and is genuinely unreachable — not hidden by the app being polite about it, but blocked by the database itself, so no ordinary account can read it by any route. Only the operator can, and only when investigating a report about that specific piece.
And the walk is the one thing here that resembles a history — so it is the one thing here with an expiry date. It records which corners you were offered on a given day and how far through them you got. It does not record which ones you entered, what you did inside, or anything about the people who own them. These rows are deleted automatically after 21 days, and immediately if you delete your account. Nothing in the app reads a walk after the day it belongs to; keeping them any longer would be keeping them for no reason.
This list is the design of the product, not a promise about future intentions. Most of these are absent in the sense that there is nowhere to put them.
Each walk is drawn fresh and moves in one direction only, so a corner you were shown is not a place you can return to and watch.
Nobody else. There is no advertising network, no analytics vendor, and no data broker in this list, because there are none in the app.
On Android the app declares exactly one permission, for handling audio playback politely alongside other apps. It asks for your photo library only at the moment you attach a picture to feedback, and for nothing at all otherwise. There is no camera access, no microphone access, and no location access.
In the app: settings, then delete account. It is immediate and permanent, and there is no undo — the app says so plainly before you confirm. If you would rather read this on its own, or you cannot get into the app at all, there is a page about deleting your account.
Your sign-in and email, your corner, every piece in it and everything you wrote with them, the marks left on your pieces, your walks, and any wishes we could not draw for you.
Marks you left in other people's corners remain where they are, with the record of who left them erased. A mark is a gift to someone else's space, and leaving does not reach into their corner and take it back. In the same way, a report you filed stays open, because it is a signal about somebody else and should not disappear because you left.
Neither of those leaves anything behind that names you.
If you cannot sign in and want your account deleted, email us from the address on the account and we will do it by hand.
Your corner and everything in it is kept as long as your account exists, because it is your account — this is a room you are tending, not a feed that expires. Your walks are deleted after 21 days. Feedback and reports are kept while they are being dealt with and for a reasonable period after, so a pattern of abuse can still be recognised. Everything tied to you goes when you delete your account.
Hidden Corner is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.
You can see everything the app holds about you by opening it — your corner is that data. You can remove any of it by deleting your account. For anything else, including a copy of your data or a correction, email us and we will do it by hand; there is one person here, so the answer will come from a human.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change ever means collecting something genuinely new, that will be said plainly here rather than absorbed into a longer document.
